Description

M5 is one of the largest and oldest globular clusters in our galaxy. Located 24,500 light years away in Serpens, this object contains hundreds of thousands of stars around 13 billion years old! After weeks of bad schedules and worse skies, I managed to find a clear night to shoot on the WAS 14" scope. I had sharp focus, smooth guiding... and lousy stars. All of the stars were slightly stretched (I suspect a misaligned guidescope), but Pixinsight and BlurXterminator minimized the damage.
